Sonic Debuts Cheesy Garlic Pepperoni Bites, Brings Back Summer Slush Favorites

Sonic fans — fans of the fast-food chain, not the video game character — have reason to celebrate as spring turns to summer at the end of this month.

According to a May 19 press release put forth by Sonic, the summer menu is set to launch on May 27, complete with one all-new snack and two refreshing fan-favorite beverages that could cool thirsty patrons off after a long day spent out in the sun.

Sonic Launches New Cheesy Garlic Pepperoni Bites

First up: Sonic is seemingly very excited about its new Cheesy Garlic Pepperoni Bites — “a crave-worthy combo of melty mozzarella and provolone cheese, savory pepperoni and zesty pizza sauce, wrapped in a crispy, golden-brown shell,” as the fast-food brand described them — hitting counters, kiosks, and drive-thru lanes in just over a week.

The spicy snack pockets are available in three-piece, five-piece, or seven-piece order sizes, and they can be enjoyed a la carte or teamed up with a drink to create a combo. Prices start at $2.99 and move upward from there.

Watermelon and Lemonberry Slushes Could Slake Some Serious Thirst

Citing social media demand as a major driver for their return, Sonic was quick to underscore news of returning standout slushes in watermelon and lemonberry flavors.

The Watermelon Slush has been absent from Sonic menu boards for about six years — since 2019 — and is advertised as “a burst of juicy, sweet watermelon flavor blended into” a classic slush from the red-white-and-blue brand.

On the other hand, the Lemonberry Slush has also been missing in action for some time, having been absent since 2020, but is now set for a timely return. Termed as “a refreshing SONIC Slush swirled with real strawberries and a squeeze of real lemon,” this flavor is sure to please those seeking a tangy-yet-sweet taste when it comes to frozen beverages.

Half-Price Sonic Shakes Promo Kicks Off, but You’ll Have To Wait Until After 5 p.m.

Kicking off the press release, Sonic noted that while the three aforementioned items wouldn’t be available until May 27, impatient dessert lovers could satisfy their cravings via a promo kicking off immediately.

“Nothing says summer like a cool treat after a hot day. Starting May 19, enjoy SONIC Shakes for half price every day after 5 p.m. — any size, any flavor,” the company stated.

“With an offer this good it’s the perfect way for guests to indulge in a sweet treat that’s as satisfying as it is irresistible,” the chain added.
