Meeting consumer demand

Conveyor sortation systems have revolutionised warehouse automation by streamlining order fulfilment processes. Offering increased throughput, accuracy, flexibility, space optimisation, improved labour productivity, and real-time tracking, these systems have become essential tools for businesses aiming to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving market. Investing in conveyor sortation systems can help warehouses achieve operational excellence, enhance customer satisfaction, and stay ahead of the competition in the ever-growing world of e-commerce, according to AMHSA.

BS Handling Systems faced the challenge of providing an automated solution for sorting and storing empty totes and pallets at MINI plant Oxford. The automated sortation system in the ILC building (80) has been designed to handle up to 1250 totes per hour and is operational 22 hours a day, five days a week. The system has improved efficiencies at the Oxford MINI plant and freed operators to focus on more important tasks in the production plant.

For many industry sectors, conveyor systems remain essential components to support streamlined material handling operations and increased efficiency needed for today’s logistics and manufacturing challenges. However, choosing the right option between belt and roller conveyors for your specific operational needs can be a daunting task. L-A-C has been at the forefront of belt and roller conveyor innovation for nearly 30 years, designing and installing countless solutions to help support customers’ current operations and continued growth.

The Special Hygienic Conveyor is specifically designed to optimise global food processing. Based on Interroll’s hugely successful Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP), it offers a simple, evidence-based solution that fulfils the key requirements of the food processing industry: efficiency; sustainability; cleanliness and hygiene; reliability; and safety. The automated SHC is the first modular stainless-steel platform to enable zero-pressure-accumulation (ZPA) conveying in the food sector.

At the initial point of entry, returned items can be easily introduced to the system by Vanderlande’s sortation systems, such as the CROSSORTER. Shuttle systems (ADAPTO, for example) are ideal for compact storage, especially if you need a storage area the size of ten football fields to store returns. Vanderlande’s AIRPICK solution, which uses a pocket sorter, also enables easy returns processing, because items are handled directly and made automatically available for new customers.

Increased automation in the conveying & sortation sector is helping warehouses meet the ever-growing demands of today’s consumers.
