Addiction experts grow restive as they wait for Kennedy to take action
Despite his compelling personal story of recovery from addiction, RFK Jr. has said much less about the U.S. drug crisis than other priorities like food additives.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is not shy when it comes to discussing his recovery from addiction.
At campaign stops throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, and now as President Trump’s health secretary, he tells his story wherever possible, from his childhood introduction to drugs to college and law school years marred by his use of heroin and alcohol. Finally, in his late 20s, he was arrested on drug charges. Kennedy says he has been sober ever since, and that to this day, he attends eight Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week.
