Veteran head coach Stan Butler will not be joining the team this weekend due to an ongoing internal review of team policy, the team announced Thursday.
Butler was hired by the Otters on Jan. 26, 2023, after spending 22 seasons with the North Bay Battalion. The 68-year-old spent time as a head coach, general manager and director of hockey operations at various points throughout his tenure.
The Toronto, Ont., native has also coached on the international stage in the past, representing Canada at the World Juniors at the 2001 and 2002 tournaments.
The Otters are fifth in the Western Conference with a 19-14-3 record and take on the Ottawa 67s in their next game on Jan. 17.
