Alex Lynn will miss the 63rd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona due to illness, Wayne Taylor Racing has confirmed.

The Cadillac factory driver was due to pilot the No. 40 Cadillac V-Series.R for the opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

However, the team outlined in a statement on Friday that he will sit out the race, with WTR downscaling to a three-driver squad for the No. 40 car instead.

He did not set any laps during either of Friday’s first two Roar before the Rolex 24 test sessions.

“Alex Lynn, co-driver of the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R will not compete in the 63rd Rolex 24 At Daytona because of a virus,” the team wrote.

“The team will contest the race with drivers Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz and Kamui Kobayashi.

“Cadillac Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing wish Alex a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Cadillac.”
