The Dallas Mavericks are going to be without their starting centre for the foreseeable future. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that Dereck Lively II is expected to miss two-to-three months due to a small fracture in his foot.

Lively, 20, last played on Jan. 14 against the Denver Nuggets. He played just three minutes before he was forced to exit.
The Duke product has developed into an important piece for the Mavericks in just his second season in the league. Through 32 games this season, Lively has averaged 9.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.
After reaching the NBA Finals last season, the Mavericks sit seventh in the Western Conference this season with a 23-20 record.
